Ladies and Gentlemen:
In this hot summer day, so many friends both at home and abroad come to
Foshan, taking part in the 1st Foshan Kung Fu Culture Fair. As the supporter
of this fair, on behalf of all the representatives from Foshan Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Film, TV, Press and
Publication,
and
Foshan
Center
for the Intangible Culture Heritage Protection, I express my
sincere welcome and appreciation for your coming.
Foshan
is both an ancient and young city. It originated in the Jin Dynasty, and became
famous in the Tang Dynasty. During the Tang and Song Dynasties which were more
than 1000 years ago, Foshan played a very important role in business in the
south of
China
.
Foshan is one of the
birthplaces of southern kung fu in
China
. Not only lots of kung fu
masters appear in Foshan, but also different types of excellent southern kung
fu, such as Wing Chun, Hong Quan, Cailifo Quan, Baimei Quan and Longxing Quan (咏春拳、洪拳、蔡李佛拳、白眉拳、龙形拳).
The word “kung fu”
originated in
Guangdong
and
Hong
Kong
, and became a catchword used until now through Bruce Lee’s
movies. Kung Fu is Chinese traditional culture and wonderful cultural
inheritance.
Foshan government pays
much attention to the protection of Foshan intangible culture heritage, and has
devoted considerable efforts and resources to arrange and research it. Chinwoo
Athletic Association of Foshan, along with a lot of other kung fu groups, has
been making great contributions to the Foshan Kung Fu development. We believe,
as the times progress and society advances, the harder we work together, the
sooner Foshan Kung Fu will become one of the national and world intangible
culture heritage. This is also the wish of all of us.
My dear friends, you are
the promoters of kung fu, as well as the managers of friendship. Wish you a
happy time in Foshan. I believe that you will remember everything here,
including the friendly people, the wonderful kung fu and the splendid culture.
