2007 World Wing Chun Foshan Declaration

    On August 26th 2007, practitioners from every corner of the world assemble here, Chinwoo Athletic Association of Foshan, to sign together on the following declaration.
    Our shared objective is: promote the peace, strengthen our friendship and spread the Wing Chun culture.
    Representatives from Foshan Center for the Intangible Culture Heritage Protection are our eyewitness.
    Participants of various martial art genres from different countries and districts support this declaration.

1. The origin of Wing Chun
    Throughout the ages, there are different versions on Wing Chun in different places and genres. We respect all the versions, because they are part of Wing Chun culture, which is charming and splendid.
    We believe whenever and wherever, with their exciting legends, heroes Wing Chun created will be remembered forever.
    According to the research from the Foshan Museum, the earliest written record of Foshan Wing Chun appeared after 1854, which was introduced into Foshan and carried forward accompanied with the uprisings of Red Craft Army led by Li Wenmao.
    We feel proud of Wing Chun’s promising future. We feel proud of this local martial art of Foshan!

2. Give our respect to FoShan Wing Chun
    Since Wing Chun was introduced into Foshan. Foshan people keep researching and developing this martial art culture. From generation to generation, a lot of outstanding persons make contributions to Wing Chun.
    Let’s remember this Wing Chun master---Liang Zan. Remember his name, and his legendary life. It is he who opened a new era of Foshan Wing Chun.
    Let’s show our love and respect to all the practitioners who have contributed to Foshan Wing Chun. They are stars shining in the Wing Chun sky, from the past to the future.
    In 1997, Wing Chun Research Institute of Chinwoo Athletic Association of Foshan was founded, which symbolized that Foshan Wing Chun was revived. 10 years has passed. We are so glad to see that all the Foshan practitioners are making every endeavor to lead Wing Chun into a totally new and lively stage with the whole world.

3. The bright future of Wing Chun
    We believe, the traditional culture and industrialization of Wing Chun supplement each other, and they will combine perfectly.
    We believe, with the development of Wing Chun, there exist various genres from different places, which is the result of combination of eastern and western culture. It symbolizes the spirit of learning from each other, competing and cooperating.
    We respect all the Wing Chun genres from every corner of the world with different styles.
    Wing Chun from places such as Foshan, Guangzhou and Heshan continue a traditional style, forming special culture with national characteristics. It is not only a kind of martial art, but also culture with oriental philosophic thinking.
    Being just and accommodating is the tenet of Wing Chun.
    Through the long-term endeavor, practitioners from Hong Kong, Macao, and other places around the world have infused life and new vigor of industrialization to Wing Chun, promoted its development greatly.
    We show respect to the effort from different practitioner, different countries. Because of you, we have the valuable and splendid culture of Wing Chun.
    Nowadays, Wing Chun is a modern industry as well as traditional culture. It has been a common life style which can bring us physical and mental health and happiness.

    As China becomes increasingly powerful, there is no doubt that Chinese traditional culture is in its good hour to promote to the whole world. With its unique culture and geography characteristics, the trend of Foshan becoming the world’s Wing Chun center is unstoppable!
    The tide of advocating the Wing Chun spirit of justice and initiative is unstoppable!
    The passion of Wing Chun practitioners to realize their value is unstoppable!
    The pace of Wing Chun stepping toward the World Immateriality Heritage is unstoppable!
